If you have dead spots in the grass chances are it needs to be fertilizied. A bag is like 13 bucks and it makes a huge difference, our yard looked pretty bad like 3 weeks ago and is lookin so much better now- Try it out, watering it alone wont do the trick

Get Rid of Ants

Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can'tdigest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

Newspaper weeds away

Start putting in your plants wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers. - I have not tried this, but it sounds way cool! I hate weeds and I still have not found a weed killer that works.
